Oregon COVID-19 Rent Assistance Money

Oregon COVID-19 Rent Assistance Money

Another round of state rent assistance money has just been released for Lane County. Applications for the assistance money are being accepted as of 9 a.m. on July 15th, and the application window closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22. To see whether you are eligible go to the Lane County webpage www.lanecounty.org/rent

This funding comes from the Oregon State Legislature Joint Emergency Board’s meeting on June 5th to discuss how to spend the $247 million in federal coronavirus relief the state has received as a part of the CARES Act. $55 million, the biggest portion of the relief money, has been allotted to rent assistance across Oregon and Lane County has $5.1 million of that available.

Eligible households that complete an application will be selected for funding by a lottery for expenses going back to March 1st. To be eligible for rent assistance, you must be renting a unit located in Lane County and there must be an active rental agreement or lease in your name. You must be able to document a loss of income as a direct result of COVID-19 OR have a compromised health status or elevated risk of infection and vulnerability that impacts your health, related to COVID-19, under which a loss of housing would place your health in jeopardy. Your household income must also be at or below 80 percent of the Lane County’s Area Median Income Level (AMI). Again, details on the AMI and how to apply are located at www.lanecounty.org/rent
